Prosecutor: Suspect Choked Deputy

( Hamilton County ) - A man accused of attacking a sheriff's deputy, rendering him unconscious, has been indicted by a grand jury.

29-Year-Old Jeffrey Cooper is charged with attempted murder, felonious assault, and aggravated robbery. A statement from Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters says the Norwood man had been arguing with a woman outside of a hotel on Ridge Road in Columbia Twp on May 6. Responding Deputy Michael Schneider was allegedly attacked by Cooper, with Cooper putting him in a choke hold, leaving him unconscious. Cooper was subdued with a taser by another responding officer.

Deters says Deputy Schneider was taken to the hospital to be treated for a "pseudo aneurysm," and he still requires medical treatment for those injuries.

If convicted of all counts, Cooper faces decades in prison.
