City Council Urges GOP to Keep ObamaCare

( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- City Council has voted to urge Republicans in Washington to keep the Affordable Care Act in place and not vote for the American Healthcare Act.

Mayoral candidate, Councilwoman Yvette Simpson, introduced the motion, saying that removing or changing the Affordable Care Act would be burdensome on the people of Cincinnati who count on the insurance they get through the exchange.

Councilman PG Sittenfeld said that while some question what business this is of City Hall, he says that council represents their constituents who will be effected by the change to the healthcare system, and says it's the duty of council to stand up and make their voices heard.

Sittenfeld called the American Healthcare Act "cruel legislation," pointing at "the deep cuts to Medicaid, the fact that this ends up being a big tax cut for the ultra rich, that there were no CBO hearings, things as offensive as having been a victim of sexual assault now becomes a preexisting condition."
