(Cincinnati) It's a problem they can't get a handle on. Hamilton County's Coroner says overdose deaths from opiates were up last year and could likely double again this year.
There were 403 overdose deaths recorded last year. Of those 342 were opiate related. That's compared to 415 overdose deaths in 2015, with an estimated 240 opiate related.
Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco says just experimenting once could be fatal.
There was a spike in overdose deaths last summer and another earlier this year. Just this past weekend, two people were pronounced dead after four people overdosed in a car on East McMicken.
