State Rep Pleads 'No Contest' to OVI

( Hamilton, Ohio ) - He's staying in office and not serving any jail time for OVI.

State Rep Wes Retherford pleaded no contest in Butler County on Wednesday. Sheriff's deputies say Retherford was passed out behind the wheel of his truck on March 12. It was in the drive-thru of a McDonald's in Liberty Twp. Investigators said Retherford had a loaded gun in the armrest, but a grand jury did not indict him on any weapons counts.

After pleading no contest, the 33-year-old Republican was given a suspended 6-month jail sentence. He will have to undergo alcohol intervention for three days. His driver's license is suspended for six months, but he will be able to drive to work.

Party leadership has asked Retherford to resign his position representing Ohio's 51st District, but he has refused to step down. He said in court Wednesday that he "made a mistake" and he regrets his actions.
