Local Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

(Kettering, OH.)--A military service-member from Ohio has been identified as one of two men who died in in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan Thursday. 

The Department of Defense announced today that, Sgt. Cameron H. Thomas, 23, of Kettering, Ohio. was killed on April 27 while conducting a joint US-Afghan raid in the Achin District of Nangarhar Province.

Also killed was Sgt. Joshua P. Rodgers, 22, of Bloomington, Illinois. The operation was targeting ISIS-K, the terror group's Afghanistan affiliate. Both soldiers were assigned to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia.
