(Warren County, Oh.)--A blast this weekend brought down the original Jeremiah Morrow Bridge along I-71 in Warren County.
Ohio Department of Transportation officials say the 50-year-old northern portion of span was imploded early this morning. That section of the old bridge fell immediately. The second portion failed to fall reportedly due to a faulty connection on one of the charges.
O-Dot applied more charges to the remaining portion of the bridge in an effort to get the span to fall.
The highway was shut down at 5 a.m. Sunday and re-opened around 1 P.M.
Traffic on I-71 will now move over the Little Miami River on a new, 100-million-dollar bridge that took six years to build.
