( COVINGTON, KY ) -- Showbiz Players opens Frank Wildhorn's musical The Civil War on Friday, April 28, at the Carnegie Theatre. Inspired by the award winning Ken Burns PBS Documentary series, The Civil War is based on letters written by soldiers, speeches by Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and poetry by Walt Whitman, Sojourner Truth, and Maya Angelou.
Showbiz Players' previous iterations of The Civil War have received national, state, and local acclaim, including an engagement at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center for Tall Stacks in 2006.
The Showbiz Players organization is celebrating its 30th Anniversary with a new revival of this production. After 30 years, Showbiz Players have announced that this will be their final production. The Civil War runs through May 6. Information regarding the show can be found on the Showbiz website.
