( Hamilton County ) - Commissioners say they've chosen a new new site for the coroner's office.
Previous talk involved building the new coroner's office and crime lab along Glendale Milford road, but on Wednesday, a statement from Hamilton County Administrator Jeff Aluotto announced a new location just south of there on Carver Woods Drive.
"It is a great location for Hamilton County and for the crime lab to exist in terms of its proximity to roadways," says Commission President Todd Portune. The new site has just over 8 acres of buildable land whereas the previously chosen spot had just over 6 acres. "We're going to be able to get going on this and expedite the construction of a crime lab at this site in a way that's going to save us a lot of time" Portune says.
Hamilton County's $50,000 deposit on that initially chosen location will be refunded. Commissioners are hoping to break ground on the new location before the end of 2017.
