Tuesday Morning Crash Injures Two

(Addyston, Oh.)--The Hamilton County Sheriffs Office believe drugs were involved in a crash on U.S. Route 50 Tuesday that severely injured two people.

The Sheriffs office says around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Christopher Benter, 27, traveled left of center, on Three Rivers Parkway in the Village of Addyston striking an Acura head-on. The severity of the accident forced emergency crews to call in Air Care services but due to heavy rain storms the flight was grounded. Benter who was not wearing a seat-belt at the time of the crash was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the car, Sarah Kern, 31, of West Harrison, Indiana had to be mechanically extricated from her vehicle. She was wearing a seat-belt at the time of the crash and is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

The accident forced the closure of U.S. Route 50 for several hours. The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit.
