8 Year Sentence For Man Involved in Crash that Killed Performer

(Cincinnati, Oh.)--A man involved in deadly crash with a motorcyclist has been sentenced to 8 years in prison.

The crash on I-74 happened in October 2016, when Brandon Bernhardt, 21, of Sunman, Indiana, struck and killed December James Lamb.

Lamb, 55, was a popular performer at Hollywood Casino's Boogie Nights. Bernhardt was charged with two second-degree felonies: aggravated vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of the fatal crash.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office reported that Lamb was knocked off his bike and then dragged nearly a mile. Brandon Bernhardt then stopped the truck and ran off into the woods along I-275 and hid. Search crews were called in and Bernhardt was found about an hour later by a police K-9.

The sheriff’s office reported at the time of the crash that Bernhardt was under the influence, speeding, and had an open case of beer along with empty beer cans inside the truck. Bernhardt was arrested for driving drunk in March, 2016, and served three days in jail with his license suspended.

Lamb left behind a family of 12 children, 19 grandchildren.
