TRAFFIC WARNING: Lytle Tunnel Closing to Northbound Traffic

( Cincinnati ) - Road construction around the Ohio River is changing, and it will mean a change of plans for large vehicles through the summer.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says that starting at 9pm on Saturday, northbound traffic will be shifted into the southbound lanes just north of the Lytle Tunnel and then shifted back to its regular spot just before I-471.

That's going to mean a change for people driving large vehicles. "Those trucks can't make that curve, so we're keeping them out of the tunnel," says Brian Cunningham with ODOT. Tractor trailers and other large vehicles looking to go north cannot go through the Lytle Tunnel. All northbound 75/71 trucks should either use I-75 to 562 to get back to I-71 or I-275 to I-471 to get back to I-71. This work will be in effect until September.

Downtown drivers will also deal with a change in ramps. The 2nd Street ramp to northbound I-71 will be open and the 5th Street ramp to northbound I-71 will be closed.
