Defending Hit Skip Driver in Downtown Death

The mother of a woman who left the scene after a deadly hit skip crash downtown says there is another side to this story. Aimee Benson says, yes her daughter fled the scene but only because she was terrified. She tells WCPO that her daughter came straight home and then they went straight to the police.

Madie Hart died in the crash on Walnut Street and reports say Hart and Briana Benson had been arguing earlier in the evening at a club downtown. A surveillance video also shows Hart pounding on the car of Benson just before the accident. The mother of Benson says this has been a nightmare for everyone involved but says her daughter is not responsible for Hart's death.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters says the case will be presented to the grand jury next week for possible charges. He discussed it with Scott Sloan on Newsradio 700 WLW and you can listen to the interview right here.

Earlier today the mother took to Facebook to comment for the first time about what happened. See the post below.
