(Around the Tri-State)--Severe thunderstorms moved through Southeast Indiana and Southwest Ohio Wednesday afternoon and evening.
A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect for the area until 9 p.m. Wednesday. The heavy storms moved out of the area by that time.
Fox 19 NOW Chief Meteorologist Steve Horstmeyer said that forecasters were expecting wind and rain. But the big story turned out to be hail.
Horstmeyer said a picture from Owen County received in his office showed three inches of hail on the road. There were some trees reported down in Oxford Township, along with numerous power outages. The outages were more numerous east of Cincinnati.
"It was more like a snowstorm that a hailstorm," said Horstmeyer.
Horstmeyer said the storms became stronger as they moved north of the Cincinnati area. There was damage reported in Clark County, and an uprooted tree reported in Dayton.
Thursday, forecasters said that rain was expected during the day. The rain was forecast to mix with snow Thursday night, with cooler temperatures.
