Hazardous Materials Crews Called to NB I-75

(Cincinnati, OH)--Firefighters were called to northbound I-75 just after midnight Saturday morning for what was believed to be a corrosive liquid spill.

Investigators said there was a visible sheen on the highway starting at Hopple St.

The truck carrying the liquid continued north on I-75, then east on the Norwood Lateral, to northbound I-71 where it was stopped at the 24 mile marker.

One vehicle was stopped on northbound I-75 after some of the liquid splashed on it.

Hazardous materials crews determined that the liquid was Food Grade Lactic Acid.  It was determined not to be hazardous.

The Cincinnati Fire Department Environmental Crimes officer will work with the shipper to determine if any clean-up is necessary.
