( Walnut Hills ) - Damion McRae (pictured) and Officer Kenneth Grubbs were just 5-6 feet apart when McRae allegedly shot Grubbs earlier this month.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters had a news conference Tuesday to go over body cam video from the shooting outside an apartment complex along Gilbert Ave on March 12. Deters says that Officer Grubbs and Officer William Keuper were called for a domestic disturbance. When Officer Grubbs approached McRae, McRae allegedly shot Grubbs. That led to more than a dozen gunshots being fired, and McRae was injured. Both McRae and Officer Grubbs suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
McRae is now under indictment on charges including attempted murder, felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon, and more. Deters says that attempted murder charge only applies to Officer Grubbs, and he says there's a strong likelihood he'll go back to the grand jury for a separate attempted murder charge involving Officer Keuper.
If convicted of all charges, McRae faces the possibility of more than 20 years in prison.
