Update:
The suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Damion McRae (see photo below). He is being charged with attempted murder and having weapons under disability. Both McRae and the officer shot are recovering from surgery. They are both expected to fully recover.
(Cincinnati, OH)--A police officer was injured early Sunday after being shot.
Police responded to a domestic incident at an apartment building in the 2600 block of Gilbert Ave.
Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac said around 21:30 a.m. two District Four officers responded to the address, and saw the potential domestic violence suspect outside in a courtyard.
Isaac said when approached the suspect fired at the officers, and hit one of them. Officers returned fire and the suspect was hit multiple times.
Both the officer and the suspect were taken to a hospital to undergo surgery. No word from Chief Isaac on the condition of the suspect
Cincinnati police later Tweeted that the officer is in stable condition and had been released from the ICU and is recovering from his non-life-threatening injuries.
Identities have not been released.
