Shot Fired at Robbery Suspect

( Cheviot ) - The Hamilton County Sheriff says a man tried to rob a local convenience store with an off-duty deputy inside.

Just before 6am, Simeon Thomas (pictured above) allegedly entered the UDF at the corner of Northbend and Westwood Northern with a mask and a gun. He demanded cash from the clerk, but they weren't the only ones in the store.

Deputy Terry Harper (pictured below) happened to be buying coffee at the time, and he drew his weapon, pointing it at Thomas. Thomas allegedly pointed his gun at Deputy Harper, and Harper fired a shot that missed Thomas. Thomas subsequently dropped his gun and ran, but he was arrested a short time later.

Thomas is charged with aggravated robbery, assault on a police officer, and receiving stolen property.

Sheriff Jim Neil released a statement saying Deputy Harper "showed remendous bravery," and he commends him on a "job well done!"
