( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- The Fraternal Order of Police has made an endorsement in the Cincinnati mayoral race, and it's for the reelection of Mayor John Cranley.
With a unanimous 12-0 vote from the endorsement committee for John Cranley over Yvette Simpson and Robert Richardson, FOP President Dan Hills says John Cranley's values are most in alignment with those of the FOP.
Hills says Cranley was front-and-center in talks with the FOP to give officers and the Chief of Police pay raises, he was the first to contact Hills after the shootings of police officers in Baton Rogue and Dallas, he never talks about laying off officers in the midst of a budget deficit, and he prioritizes police and fire over expanding the streetcar.
John Cranley says that his "main" opponent, Yvette Simpson, has said that she would vote on budgets that would cut funding for police and fire and lay off officers and firefighters. He also says that Simpson would prioritize the streetcar and funding for it over police and fire and pay raises for officers and firefighters.
This is the second time in a row that the FOP has endorsed John Cranley in the mayoral race.
