UPDATE: KSP Looking For Owen Co. Shooting Suspect

UPDATE: Kentucky State Police say Derrick Thomas was arrested without incident on Wednesday in Gallup, New Mexico. Investigators say his girlfriend, Elizabeth Neal, was arrested on charges "unrelated to the shooting." KSP says the couple's young children are safe.

New Columbus, Ky - The Kentucky State Police at Post 5 Campbellsburg is searching for a suspect involved in a non-fatal shooting in Owen County on February 17th, 2017. 

Derrick Mays Thomas, the suspect in an Owen County shooting, is still being sought by the Kentucky State Police.  It is believed Thomas is in the company of his girlfriend, Elizabeth Neal, and their 1 and 3 year old children. 

Thomas is still considered armed and dangerous after allegedly shooting James Neal during an altercation the evening of February 17th.  Thomas may be traveling in a blue/silver 2003 2 door Hyundai Accent with Kentucky registration plate 651-LFE or a gray 2003 4 door Mitsubishi Galant with Kentucky registration plate 124-VET.  Thomas has ties to Clark, Montgomery, and Menifee Counties and is wanted for assault 1st degree. 

The public is asked to not make any contact with Thomas and to provide any information on his whereabouts to Kentucky State Police Post 5 Campbellsburg.  Tips from the public may be left at 502.532.6363 or 1.800.222.5555.
