Cincinnati State Grant for Low-Income Students

( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- Data from the Ohio Department of Education finds that 75% of high school students enrolled in CPS are economically disadvantaged. To help those students get a secondary-school education, Cincinnati State is offering low-income students a new grant called the Be Great Grant. Students must be Pell-eligible and attend Cincinnati State on a full-time, degree-seeking basis.

The Be Great Grant gaps between financial aid and the cost of tuition and books. The grant gives $1000 towards tuition and $1000 towards books.

On top of the grant, Cincinnati State is working closely with CPS to expand the College Credit Plus program, which allows students to earn college credit while still in high school. Students who earn 15 CCP credits could save over $2000 in tuition at Cincinnati State. A low-income student in CCP that receives the Be Great Grant, attends Cincinnati State, and then transfers to the University of Cincinnati could save between $18,000 - $25,000.

To apply for the Be Great Grant, students and their parent or guardian must complete a Cincinnati State Admission Application and FAFSA (both are free). For more information, call (513) 569-1470.
