12 Shootings in 7 Days in Cincinnati

( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- With the 2 latest shootings in Over-the-Rhine on Sunday, February 19, Cincinnati has officially seen a dozen shootings within the past 7 days.

Malik Peeples appeared in court today, charged with the Valentine's Day shooting murder of Donald Campbell on McCormick Place. He was arrested last Friday, February 17.

On the morning of Sunday, February 19, an unidentified male victim was shot in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood and taken to UC Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Then before noon, Trevor Tiemann, 26, was shot in the head while on his motorcycle in the 1600 block of Walnut Street. He was taken to UC Medical Center where he later died.

There are no suspects in those shootings and there are 9 other shooting cases from the past week that are still open. Lt. Steve Saunders of the Cincinnati Police Department reminds everyone that when the weather starts warming up as it has been lately, shooting numbers tend to rise.

Lt. Saunders also reminds everyone that the murder case of Alexandrea Thompson, 9, is still open and there is no new information on the investigation. He says these cases cannot be closed without the help of the community and urges anyone with any information at all to call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
