Lawsuit Over District 5 Police HQ

( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- The city of Cincinnati is being sued for the working conditions at District 5 Police Headquarters.

Widow Paula Hammer-McGuire is claiming "wrongful death" after her husband contracted lung cancer and later died in January 2015 due to what she claims was the conditions at District 5.

The lawsuit claims: "During the course of Mr. McGuire's employment at District 5, he was exposed to toxic and hazardous substances. The City of Cincinnati was aware of the presence of toxic and hazardous substances at District 5 headquarters. The City of Cincinnati deliberately misrepresented the nature of the toxic and hazardous subtances present in the building."

The suit was filed in Hamilton County but has been moved to Federal Court. City Manager Harry Black has plans to move District 5 HQ to a different building by 2018.
