( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel (R) says that after reading the story of Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley (D) declaring Cincinnati as a sanctuary city, he told his staff he would be coming to Cincinnati to oppose the legislation.
Mandel stood with Cincinnati Councilman Charlie Winburn (R) and Hamilton County Commissioner Chris Monzel (R) to urge Cincinnatians to flood the email inboxes and phone lines of the politicians at Cincinnati City Hall, urging them to vote against the sanctuary city legislation. They also urged everyone to show up to the public comment portion before council begins to voice their opinions in person to the mayor and council.
Earlier today, January 31, Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil (D) said that he did not support the ideas behind Cincinnati becoming a sanctuary city, some some bipartisan opposition to the legislation.
While Mandel, Monzel, and Winburn know there is not much they can do at this point, they urge everyone to fight the legislation, with Mandel saying that he believes the "silent majority" agrees with him.
