Crime Numbers Down in Cincinnati

( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- City Manager Harry Black and Police Chief Elliot Isaac presented the crime numbers for 2016 to the Law and Public Safety Committee.

Violent crime, including homicides, have decreased throughout the city by 12.7% since 2015. Problem areas such as Avondale, Westwood, and East Westwood have also seen decreases in violent crime. There was also an 11.1% decrease in fatal and non-fatal shootings. Property crime showed a decrease as well.

The city manager and police chief touted the success of PIVOT, which stands for Place-Based Investigations of Violent Offender Territories. PIVOT focuses on finding ways to reduce shootings and weapon-related violence in problem areas. They say PIVOT has been a proven success and helps get communities involved to keep streets safer.
