( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- Improving crime numbers in 2016 throughout Cincinnati seemed to go hand-in-hand with improvements that were made to the police department and changes that took place within the police department.
New cruisers, including 53 new Ford Interceptors have been purchased for Cincinnati police and more are on the way now. The city also invested in new police cruiser technology that allows officers to communicate more efficiently in potentially life-threatening situations.
The department has also implemented a new best-in-class body-warn camera program. More than 500 cameras have already been deployed with many more still yet to come.
The police department has also put more priority on police statistics in partnership with the office of data and analytics. Detailed crime statistics throughout all parts of the city are reviewed twice per month every month.
City Manager Harry Black said "During my career, I have not seen the level of cooperation and openness to transparency than what I have seen here in Cincinnati as it relates to our stat programs. And I think that's a testament to the leadership of the department."
