( Cincinnati ) - The Cincinnati Public Schools district is getting ready for a major expansion of its preschool programs, thanks to a multi-million dollar levy passed in November.
Voters agreed to the 7.93-mill levy by the largest margin in the history of CPS. It'll generate $48 million dollars a year for the district: $33 million for K through 12 education and $15 million specifically to expand preschool.
A statement put out Monday night has named the United Way of Greater Cincinnati as the group that will handle the way those millions of dollars are distributed. The money will go to both public and private preschool programs, much of it to offset the cost of tuition to the families that need it.
The United Way of Greater Cincinnati has appointed a 15-person Board of Directors to lead the preschool expansion. It'll be headed up by Father Michael Graham of Xavier University.

Tuition assistance is expected to be available in the fall of 2017.
