Cincinnati Streetcar Displays Ongoing Problem

( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- Real-time displays that don’t work properly at some stops for the Cincinnati Bell Connector are being blamed for the slumping ridership numbers.

The displays show arrival and departure times for the streetcar. Out of 18 stops for the streetcar, only 3 of the displays are said to be working properly.

During the weekly Cincinnati City Council meeting on Thursday, January 19, councilman Chris Seelbach suggested that Trapeze, the company that provides and repairs the displays, should be fired. Vice Mayor David Mann agreed with the sentiment, saying that the streetcar is becoming unreliable because of it.

Council does not have the authority to fire Trapeze because their contract goes through SORTA. However, they can make the suggestion to SORTA that they should end the contract, which SORTA would most likely do if asked.
