What we learned about the Opening Round of the CFB Playoffs

What did we learn about the First Round of the CFB Playoffs? What potential changes would you like to see moving forward?

My thoughts

1. The homefield vibe was excellent. The scene Friday night in South Bend was incredible.

2. Homefield is incredibly important.

3. The four highest ranked teams should be awarded byes.

4. The conference champions should be automatically included in the 12 team field...but they SHOULD NOT be awarded a bye. Doing that skews the entire bracket. It's silly that the 9th ranked team (Boise State) and 12th ranked team (Arizona State) were given byes.

5. All four opening round games were decided by double digits, by 19.25 points per game on average......a total of 77 points decided the four games.

6. The average margin of victory in the PREVIOUS DECADE of the CFB playoffs was 17.8 points for the 20 semifinal games and 20.0 points for the 10 national championship games.

7. If I had to place a bet on a champion, I might just pick OSU.

8. What happened to Kirk Herbstreit? He's gone from looking disinterested on the CFB Playoff Selection Show.... to seemingly constantly rattled by social media......to unhappy about CFB and the games he's calling.

Your thoughts?
