Abbott deals, Hinds dazzles, Reds win

Andrew Abbott coolly, calmly and efficiently silenced the Rockies over seven shutout innings. Rece Hinds announced his presence with authority, banging out
a double and a 449-foot homer in his MLB debut. The Reds broke open a 2-0 game when they batted around in a four run 8th inning.

Abbott: 7 IN, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 8 K, season high 106 pitches/75 pitches. ERA 3.06. He put on a clinic. K 5 of first 9 batters. Cruised to 5th before B-B BB.  19 swings and misses. Pitch selection: 53 4-seam, 23 sweeper, 18 change, 10 curve. Max 94.7mph. Fastball average 92.1.

Hinds: 2 H, hustle 2B, HR. Robbed of hit in 1st AB. Made a nice sliding catch in RF. HR at 109.6 mph, GO at 106.8 mph.
Per Baseball-Reference: 23,267th player in history to appear in MLB game.

Elly: Bingo card baseball. 2 H, 2 R, 2 SB, 2B, BB, RBI. Stole 2nd on throw back to the pitcher. 15th steal of 3rd. 45 SB most by a Red before All-Star break. His 2B was 113.1 mph off the bat. After his double, raced to 3rd on errant pickoff, then scored on contact play chopper in front of plate. Cut down at home on back-end of double steal attempt in 1st inning. Came on anniversary of stealing 2B-3B-Home last year.

Jeimer Candelario: 2 H, 2 R, RBI.

Will Benson: BB, R, 2 K, 5 swings and misses. Almost unfathomable how much he swings and misses. Excellent sliding catch into the CF sun. 

Santiago Espinal: RBI 1B snapped an 0 for 17.

Spencer Steer: 2 BB, Sliding catch in LF.

Noelvi Marte: 0 for 4, 2 K, .136
