Billionaire's Attempt to Hide Portrait Blows Up in Her Face

Australia's wealthiest woman has encountered the Streisand effect. Dissatisfied with her portrayal at the National Gallery of Australia, mining magnate Gina Rinehart attempted to have the portrait removed, according to the Guardian. However, not only has the portrait remained, it has been circulated by global media, including U.S. late-night TV shows. This exposure has significantly benefited the Indigenous artist of the "Australia in Colour" exhibition, which debuted at the NGA in March. Vincent Namatjira explains that he paints "individuals who are wealthy, powerful, or significant—those who have impacted this country and myself, whether directly or indirectly, for better or worse," as reported by CNN.
