Quick Cap: Well, that was….fun….then troubling…then mesmerizing.... and finally a relief. The Reds jumped to an 8-0 lead in the 4th inning, saw the Brewers pull within 9-8 in the 6th, but ultimately survived for a wild 10-8 win.

Elly’s Way: 3 H, 2 HR, SB, 4 R. Inside-the-park HR. Singled the other way. Scored when he reached on E, advanced to 2nd on poor throw, stole 3rd, scored on infield groundout. Homered off the batter’s eye…estimated 450 feet. He circled the bases in 14.96 seconds for the inside the parker. Homered from each side of the plate. The first Red to do that since Javier Valentin. On base 15 straight games. On base 4x Monday, 2x Sunday, 3x Saturday.

Elly is the third Reds batter (fourth occurrence) to homer from both sides of the plate in the same game, joining Javier Valentin (7/17/2005 vs Col) and Pete Rose (8/2/1967 vs Atl and 8/30/1966 vs StL).

What LHP problems? The Reds jumped all over left handed Aaron Ashby in his first start since October of 2022, knocking him out with a six run 4th inning.
Ouch: CES 0 for 4, now 1 for 18 on the homestand.

Clank: The Brewers committed three errors.
Graham Ashcraft: 5.2 IN, 9 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, HR, 99 pitches/70 strikes.
After sitting 23 minutes during the Reds offensive uprising, he walked the leadoff batter of the 5th, gave up 2-run HR, four straight two out hits and three runs. He never regrouped. Not sure why Bell allowed him to give up four more hits and three more in the 6th.
