70th edition of My Random Thoughts: Sports, TV, music, food, life.....

Things that popped into my head this week.....

I judge Reds ownership/front office on what they have done since the 2022 trade deadline. It was at that point they changed the way they do things. I don't care about what happened prior to that.

Kelly read a story about couples now using separate covers in bed, reducing the pulling/tugging/waking up of your partner. Thoughts?

Do yourself a favor: Kick back sometime and listen to "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac and 'Dream Weaver' by Gary Wright.

Do fans not trust Joe Burrow to elevate his skill guys? Two big money/stud WRs would be great, but is it a requirement? This isn't fantasy football. And he's not Andy Dalton in need of being propped up. Is he?

My dad fired a 78, including 36 on the front nine, at The Club at St. James in Southport, NC. He beats his age (82) for the second time in less than a year. Senior Tour, next?

Caitlin Clark is must watch TV. Yes, she scores. 32.8 points a game. But she's averaging 8.5 assists per game. She's the first Division I player to top 3,000 points, 1,000 assists and 800 rebounds.

It's OK if someone doesn't like what you like. If you like it, enjoy it.

Props to Chad Brendel for the butcher tip: Avril Bleh Family Owned Meat Market & Deli on East Court Street, downtown Cincinnati. Shout out Rob and the guys! The Shadow Steak was phenomenal!

Don Gullett was the ace of my childhood team. Man.

I'm weary of hearing how 'ticked' Wes Miller is after each loss. Fix it.

When did the term 'get downhill' become a thing in sports jargon? Basketball players don't get downhill when they drive to the lane. Running backs don't get downhill when they run. Fields and courts are level. Not slanted. Stop it.

The Charlie Goldsmith story (Enquirer) on the Reds offseason plan for/work with Elly De La Cruz is one of the finest you will read. The depth of background work to paint that picture was superb.

Blue Bloods (CBS) is back tonight! 14th and final season. Watch it. Forthwith.

Brewery visit No. 63 within 50 miles of home: Moerlein Lager House. Big fan of the Blueberry Vanilla Lager, OTR Amber Ale and Baltic Porter (Raspberry).

I'll keep asking: Who backs-up TJ Friedl in CF and who starts in right field vs a LHP? I'm not sold on the answer.

The movie Vision Quest debuted this week in 1985. One of my all-time favorites. Several classic scenes. Great soundtrack. Watch it. What a treat to interview Matthew Modine on Sports Talk a couple of years ago.

Blowing up at your coach on the sidelines once can be explained as a heat of the moment thing. I guess. Doing it twice is acting like a petulant child. Excuse making for Travis Kelce because he's 'passionate' is pathetic. He needs to grow up. He's become a caricature of himself.

Kelly's suggestion is actually working. Rubbing castor oil on my eyebrows is promoting growth. I'm resisting rubbing it all over my head. Although.....

Adventures in driving: This week I noticed a driver painting their nails while driving 70mph on 71 N.

Do you know why defense and rebounding has been the UC basketball model for some 30+ years? Because they struggle to recruit guys that can actually shoot the ball. The next best options are rebounding the misses and playing defense.

I was playing catch with my dad on our side yard and listening to the Reds when Don Gullett broke his thumb fielding a comebacker off the bat of Larvell Blanks in 1975. It's weird the moments my memory connects to.

We tried Crown Republic Gastropub for Valentine's Dinner. Really enjoyed it. Fantastic squid ink spaghetti with lump crab. Shout out server Sophie.

I have a sleep monitor app that connects with my watch. I get a score of 1-100 each morning and a report on my sleep patterns/heart rate. I might be addicted to my pursuit of a perfect 100 night of sleep. I hit 97 this week.

Pretty crazy to think there was a time we could open a book and find the home phone number and address of people. Imagine a telephone book today.

Are all these NFL mock drafts set up to simply rotate a different player to the Bengals at No. 18 each time so as to attract interest and conversation?

We are headed to Louisville to take Peyton to brunch this weekend. Highly recommend Morning Fork. Excellent.

Because I'm well rounded, I have a tupperware tip: Tired of orange stains left on your container from spaghetti/lasagna/tomato sauce? Half fill the container with warm water, add dishwashing liquid and one paper towel. Put the lid on. Shake vigorously for about a minute. Boom!

Thank you for reading these and supporting the show.

Don't worry about things you don't care about.
