Things escalate quickly, Greene and Reds fall to Red Sox 4-1

Hunter Greene blazed his way through the Red Sox batter order in a dominant first three innings Wednesday night. But his night came undone quicky in a five hit, four run 4th inning that ended his night and put the Reds in a hole they never got out of in losing 7-1 at Fenway.

The Red Sox blew things open with a bases loaded triple by Jackie Bradley off Jeff Hoffman in the 8th inning to make it 7-1.

Hunter: 3.2 IN, 6 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 8 K. 73 pitches/49 strikes. He dominated the first three innings with seven strikeouts and one hit allowed. He struck out the side in the 1st inning with six swings and misses. But the Sox jumped on him the second time through the order, with the first four batters reaching (2B-1B-1B-2B) in the 4th inning and each scoring to end his night at 4-0. 73 pitches: 38 fastball, 34 slider, 1 changeup. He got 11 swing and misses on his slider.

Double shot: The Reds had traffic on the bases early vs Grant Whitlock, but hit into a double play to end the 1st, 2nd inning and 5th innings.

On the board: The Reds didn't advance a runner to 2nd base until the 6th inning when Aristides Aquino singled, stole 2nd and went to 3rd when the throw went into center field and scored on a Nick Senzel groundout.

Cut down! Trailing 4-1 in the 6th inning with runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out, the Reds brought the infield in. Kyle Farmer smothered a hot smash to short and threw out Xander Bogaerts at the plate.

Multiply 'em: Brandon Drury and Aquino each collected two hits.

Contact: A Reds batter did not strike out until Almora Jr did so in the 8th.....Total: 2 K, 0 BB. Reds pitchers struck out 13 Red Sox.

Moose Tracks: Mike Moustakas is 2 for his last 31 and 4 for 39, since his two homer game (May 13) that gave him 199 for his career.
