Brewers 6 Reds 3

The Reds are 3-20. Say that out loud. 3 and 20. Since a 2-2 start to the season, they have lost 18 of 19, including their last seven games.

That's 11 consecutive road losses, the most by a Reds team since 1945. They are now 12.5 games back of first place Milwaukee.

The Red trailed 3-0, cut it to 3-2, trailed 5-2 and cut it to 5-3. But honestly, any deficit feels insurmountable with this team.

Offense: 3 runs, 6 hits, 16 K, 0 BB

I can't take it: Mahle was done after 3.1 innings and 92 pitches/50 strikes....4 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, HR... He three 31 pitches in a scoreless 1st inning.
Wily Adames broke a 3rd inning scoreless tie with a 419 foot rocket blast 3-run HR to centerfield. I just can't imagine being a position player standing in the field when he throws pitch after pitch after pitch. His ERA sits at 7.01.

Little help, here: Down 3-0 entering the 4th inning, the Reds bats got Mahle two runs vs Brewers starter Brandon Woodruff, but Mahle then allowed three more runs in the bottom of the inning to make it 5-2 Brewers.

Dealing: Woodruff matched a career high 12 strikeouts. 5.2 IN, 4 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 12 K.

The pen: 4.2 IN, 1 R. Alexis Diaz was first out of the pen and once again impressive: 1.2 IN, 2 K, 16 pitches/13 strikes. ERA of 0.77 in his first 11 ML appearances. He was a 12th round picks as an 18-year old in 2015. Jeff Hoffman tossed 1.2 scoreless innings, dropping his ERA to 1.88. Phillip Diehl got Andrew McCutchen to line out to Kyle Farmer to strand two runners in the 7th inning. But Rowdy Tellez crushed a homer off Diehl in the 8th to make it 6-3.

Get ahead! Reds pitchers threw a first pitch strike to 17 of 35 batters faced. 167 pitches 96 strikes.

That's the fact, Jack! Tommy Pham and Mike Moustakas became the first Reds to launch back-to-back homers this season when they took Woodruff deep in the 4th inning to cut a 3-0 deficit to 3-2. It was the first extra-base hit of the year for Moustakas.

Two-man show: Pham and Moustakas were a combined 5 for 8, 2 2B, 2 HR, 3 R, 3 RBI....everyone else was 1 for 23 w/ 13 K.

Smokin': Pham had a 3-hit night....1B, 2B, HR (No. 4 T-team lead).

Moose Tracks: Moustakas had a HR and 2B. His homer was at 109 mph off the bat, the 2B was at 106.

Oh-fer: Kyle Farmer was 0 for 3 and now 0 for his last 17. Last week he snapped an 0 for 15.

Senzational: Nick Senzel covered a ton of ground going from CF towards LF to making a leaping catch just short of the wall.

Matt, who? Matt Reynolds collected a pinch-hit single. He's now 4 for 5 with 2 BB since joining the Reds from the waiver wire.

He's back: Tyler Stephenson returned from the IL (missed 10 games) and started. He threw out a runner stealing (No. 5) and struck out four times.

Next: Vladimir Gutierrez (7.41) vs Freddy Peralta, 7:40 Wednesday.
