Boxscore HERE

Not a bad start (2-2) when you split on the road vs the defending champs.

Impressive debut by 22-year old Hunter Greene: 5 IN, 4 H, 3 R, 2 HR, 2 BB, 7 K. 92 pitches/56 strikes....and the win.

An outing to feel good about, learn from and build on. Beat a really good team on the road. Didn't get rattled. Paced himself well. Glad he finished off the 5th.

Offspeed was decent. I counted 13 changeups, 23 sliders and 56 fastballs among his 92 pitches. 15 called strikes/14 swinging strikes/15 foul balls/12 in play.

He throws such smooth, easy gas. Got ahead with a 1st pitch strike to 14 of 21 batters. He got 14 swings and misses.. ..5 on changeups, 1 slider, 8 fastballs..

Offense: 7 hits, 6 walks, 6 runs. 6 different players scored.

Tyler Stephenson: HR.

Kyle Farmer: 2 H, 2B, BB, 2 RBI, SB.

Jonathan India: H, RB, BB.

Colin Moran: H, R, RBI, BB.

Tyler Naquin: 2 H

Not to be lost in the shuffle: Leading 1-0 in the 3rd, Nick Senzel busted tail down the line to turn what would have been an inning ending double play into a fielder's choice and a run. It opened the gates to three more runs vs Ian Anderson and a 5-0 lead.

Bullpen: 4.0 innings....Luis Cessa 1.2, 0 R....Tony Santillan 1.1, 0 R. ......Art Warren: 1.0, 0 R....1st ML save.

Bullpen on the season: 17.1 IN, 18 K, 4 ER.

D: Votto with a sweet stab of a liner to snuff a threat.
