(Butler County, OH) - A Norfolk Southern train with approximately 39 cars derailed in Wayne Township early this morning.
12-16 train cars were laying on the side of the track and in the roadway. U.S 127/S.R. 73 local traffic was permitted to pass going northbound on U.S. 127. There was a barricade blocking U.S. 127 south at Eaton Rd, and traffic was blocked at U.S. 127 north of Wayne Milford Rd.
No injuries were reported and no hazardous materials were involved.
Local businesses and schools that travel these routes were notified. Norfolk Southern Railroad was sending two cranes to clear train cars off the road.
The scene is expected to be cleared by 3:00 this afternoon.
