(Miami Township) - The 1800 block of Lawrenceburg Road in Miami Township will remain closed through Monday while clean-up efforts and roadway repairs are conducted.
Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil's office says a single vehicle rollover crash resulted in a hazardous materials leak Thursday morning.
The Sheriff says 51-year-old Darrell Byer of Muncie, Indiana was operating a 2007 International semi-tractor with a liquid cargo tank trailer. The trailer was carrying nearly 6,000 gallons of hot tar and struck a guardrail and went off the road into a grassy ditch, rolling over onto its side.
It is estimated that 2,000 gallons of tar leaked from the tank.
Mr. Byer suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The Sheriff's office says the leak caused minimal environmental impact.
Speed and impairment are not considered factors in this crash but Byer was cited for failing to maintain reasonable control of his vehicle.
