Judge Denies Restraining Order to Block Ohio's 10pm Alcohol Curfew

( Columbus, Ohio ) - A central Ohio judge on Wednesday denied a group of bars their request for a temporary injunction to block the state's recently enacted alcohol curfew.

Saying the state has an interest in the public safety of its citizens, Franklin County Judge Kim Brown said she will not be issuing that injunction.

The Ohio Liquor Control Commission last week voted unanimously to have bars announce last call at 10pm and drinks must be off the table by 11pm. It's an effort to keep people from staying out late and possibly helping spread coronavirus.

The attorney representing the establishments indicated they may continue to legally challenge the rule, despite Wednesday's ruling.
