It is not known yet if the structure that dates back to 1850 can be salvaged. Cincinnati Fire puts damage at $250,000 in the two alarm fire at the old Jackson Brewery on Mohawk Street in Over the Rhine. The building which hasn't produced beer since Prohibition was in the process of being rehabbed by the owners for future development. The roof caved in during the fire and it is not know yet if the building can be preserved.
Cincinnati Councilman Jeff Pastor writes on Twitter that the city has no plans at this point to demolish the building writing, " I have no doubt that Jackson Brewery can still contribute to our unique story. Once @CincyFireEMS has completed its inspection we will have a better picture of what is needed to salvage such a unique part of our history."
