UPDATE: 1 Worker Missing, 4 Injured in Roof Collapse

UPDATE (10PM): Turner Construction Company in a statement says four workers were injured in the collapse and have been released from the hospital after receiving treatment.

UPDATE (7PM): Cincinnati Fire Chief Roy Winston and Hamilton County Coroner Dr. Lakshmi Kode Sammarco provided an update, saying a search continues for a worker who went missing and was reported to have died earlier in the evening.

UPDATE (6 PM): One worker has died after a partial roof collapse this afternoon during construction on a building.

UPDATE (5:30 PM): Cincinnati Fire Chief Roy Winston says three people were injured after the collapse. It occurred during a concrete pour on the sixth floor with concrete and debris falling onto workers underneath on the fifth floor. The victims are stable, though injuries to two of them are described as serious head injuries.

A statement was released by Turner Construction saying:

"Earlier today at the Fourth and Race Street project, a section of temporary concrete form work collapsed during a concrete pour on the sixth floor. We are aware of injuries to three workers. First responders were called and all construction activity was halted. First responders provided immediate care and the injured workers were transported to nearby hospitals. Recovery efforts are ongoing. Counseling services will be made available to all workers on site. We work extremely hard to prevent days like this and our thoughts are with the injured workers and their families."

There have not yet been any statements that all workers have been accounted for, and that part of the Turner statement that references "recovery efforts" seem to indicate that someone may still be missing. Late Monday afternoon images from WCPO Chopper 9 showed dogs going over the scene where workers had been digging.

UPDATE: Two people are confirmed injured in the collapse that occurred on the top deck of a building at 151 W. 4th St. From WCPO Chopper 9, firefighters can be seen feverishly digging through wet concrete in the hole that opened up on the roof.

FIRST REPORT: A collapse at a construction site in Downtown Cincinnati at 4th and Elm Streets has the road shut down between 5th and Race streets.

Scanner traffic indicates some injuries and a rescue operation is underway. There's no word on how many people are involved.

Crews are digging concrete and stabilizing the structure. The collapse happened just before 1 pm.

This is a developing story and will have the latest on 700WLW.
