The Playhouse in the Park has signed a new 99 year lease with the Park Board to remain at its current location in Eden park paving the way for major improvements. The Playhouse is building a new main stage theater that will seat 539 people. The organization has already raised 35 million dollars for the project and is hoping to raise $15 million more.
Site preparation work for the construction will begin next Spring and the new theater is expected to open late in 2022. The new Rouse theater will feature better sight lines and acoustics and will include expanded dressing rooms and rehearsal areas.
