Bevin Campaign is Requesting a Recanvass. What It Means.

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin's campaign announced Wednesday afternoon that they have requested an official recanvass of the gubernatorial election results, as Bevin trails state Attorney General Andy Beshear by just over 5,000 votes, due to what the campaign says is the election being "too close to call and multiple reports of voting irregularities".

This means there will be a review of the vote totals conducted by each county clerk, who will count absentee votes and check printouts to assure the numbers sent to the state board of elections were correct.

During the 2015 Republican gubernatorial primary, Bevin defeated James Comer by just 83 votes. Comer requested a recanvass, which did not change the results.

A recanvass of the gubernatorial race will take place Thursday, November 14 starting at 9 a.m.
