Hamilton County Moves Forward On Millennium Hotel Development

(Cincinnati) - Hamilton County will move forward with redevelopment plans for the Millennium hotel in downtown Cincinnati.

Two of three county commissioners voted in favor of paying 1.3 million dollars in earnest money to the Singapore-based owner of the hotel, which is considered to be outdated. The company gave the county until Friday to pay the money or planned on getting rid of the deal.

Commissioners Todd Portune and Denise Driehaus say this si the only opportunity to bring a high-quality hotel to the Duke Energy Convention Center area.

Commissioner Stephanie Summerow Dumas voted against the deal, saying it's the worst she's seen since coming into office.

The plan for a new hotel involves an Oakley-based developer tearing down the current structure and then building a new on the site.
