( Liberty Twp ) - It's been an up and down 48 hours for parents with children in the Lakota School District. The company that handles busing in the district, Petermann Transportation, has been negotiating a new contract with its more than 200 drivers who pick up kids for Lakota schools. A vote taken late Monday night came out negative, and that led to the above video from Superintendent Matt Miller to be posted for parents.
However, a vote was taken again Tuesday evening, and that came out to a majority yes vote, avoiding a strike.
An updated statement posted on the Lakota School District website reads:
Tonight, Lakota Local Schools was notified that its bus provider, Petermann Transportation, has reached an agreement in contract negotiations with its drivers. A new contract is in place and busing will continue for our students on its regular schedule tomorrow, April 17. Thank you for your continued patience during this situation.
