(Butler County) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Liberty Township involving a commercial vehicle and SUV. The crash occurred March 20, 2019 at approximately 9:38 am on the northbound 75 exit ramp to the rest area, just south of the SR 63 / Monroe exit.
The preliminary investigation shows that a 2001 Toyota Sequoia operated by 39 year old Fei "Peter" Ni of Trenton, OH was traveling north on Interstate 75. He was exiting into the NB rest area and traveled off the left side of the marked portion of the exit ramp, striking the rear end of a parked tractor-trailer that was on the left shoulder. Ni was pronounced dead at the scene.
36 year old Michael Vosburg of Lawrence, MI was inside the sleeper of the tractor-trailer, sleeping when the rear of his vehicle was struck. Vosburg awoke upon the impact but was not injured.
Vosburg was issued a traffic citation for parking in a no-parking zone.
