UPDATE: At Least One Dead after Plane Crashes into Madeira Home

( Madeira ) - Federal investigators are expected on the scene by Tuesday night after a plane crashed into a house.

Just before 3:30pm, a twin Piper crashed into the back of a home at 6548 Rollymeade Ave, that's just southeast of the intersection of Kenwood Rd and Shawnee Run, near Kenwood Country Club.

Madeira/Indian Hill Fire Chief Steve Ashbrock says first responders found the plane on fire, though that fire did not spread to the home. At least one person is dead, though it's unclear how many people were on board the aircraft. Chief Ashbrock says everyone who lived in the home is safe and accounted for, including a pair of dogs.

In an update on Tuesday night, the Ohio State Highway Patrol put out a statement saying that the pilot has been identified as 62-year-old David Sapp. He was flying his Piper PA-31 when it crashed. Investigators say Sapp was taking aerial photos before the plane went down. The statement does not specify if Sapp was from the Cincinnati area or not.
