Lawmakers React To President Trump's Words On Otto Warmbier

(Cincinnati) - Lawmakers are reacting after President Donald Trump's latest comments about Wyoming college student Otto Warmbier's death.

Trump said overnight that he believes North Korea's Kim Jon Un didn't know anything about the treatment of Warmbier who was imprisoned while visiting the country in 2016.

Warmbier returned to the United States the next summer with brain damage and in a coma. The President strongly condemned his death at the time, but said yesterday that Kim felt very badly about it.

Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown says he's outraged by the president's reaction. Senator Rob Portman says North Korea should never get let off the hook for Warmbier's death.

Congressman Brad Wenstrup has similar feelings and News Radio 700WLW is waiting to hear back from Congressman Steve Chabot.
