There has mistakenly been a connection between a mention of an unconfirmed federal investigation into certain Cincinnati Vice officers and the tragic death of Sergeant Arthur Schultz. I will stake my reputation that when and if this investigation is confirmed or revealed that it has absolutely nothing to do with Art Schultz or his passing. Art was suffering from a medical condition and was in extreme pain. Sergeant Schultz’s integrity was second to no one. Any media outlet working to connect these stories is doing a great disservice to the memory of Sergeant Schultz and his grieving family.

( Cincinnati ) - "He was a good police officer." In an interview with 700WLW News on Friday afternoon, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters stressed multiple times that it's a tragic time for the family of Cincinnati Police Sergeant Arthur Schultz. Schultz was found dead in Eden Park on Thursday.
"Prayers go out to the family. It's a horrible tragedy," Deters said. The Hamilton County Coroner on Friday said Schultz died of what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
In that Friday interview, the prosecutor also said that there's an investigation that was going on prior to Schultz's death. "We're aware, frankly, of an investigation of that entire unit, and we just don't know the motivation for this suicide. But hopefully we'll find out soon," Deters said. A statement from Cincinnati Police on Thursday said Schultz joined the Vice Unit in December, 2000. Prosecutor Deters would not elaborate further on the investigation, including who was conducting it. "There's been an investigation going on for quite some time. I don't know what it's going to result in," Deters said.
Before the interview ended, Deters again said "right now, at this point in time, everyone should be concerned about the family and that's it."
