Cincinnati Police Starting Neighborhood Traffic Blitz Tuesday

( Cincinnati ) - Police say they're listening to people in neighborhoods when it comes to traffic.

Starting Tuesday, officers will be stepping up their presence in a variety of neighborhoods in all five Cincinnati Police districts to keep both drivers and pedestrians safe.

"They want enhanced traffic enforcement. They want to feel safe on their streets, and being a community-oriented policing agency, we react to what the community wants," says Lt Col Paul Neudigate. He says officers, including motorcycle units, will be stepping up traffic enforcement in key areas where people have reported problems, not just where traffic data has indicated problem spots.

The department released a statement Monday night saying it will roll out the safety program "on October 16, 2018 at 1:30pm in Pleasant Ridge at the corner of Montgomery Road and Ridge Avenue at the gazebo." Lt Col Neudigate says it's his department's intention to blitz the areas listed above during peak driving times every day for the next several weeks.
