(Deerfield Township) - Police are investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 71.
They say a vehicle hit the back of a semi-tractor trailer on I-71 southbound near Mason Montgomery Road in Deerfield Township at 7:07 a.m. Wednesday.
A red Hyundai Elantra driven by 40-year-old Rebecca Lynn Kanaris veered off the road and hit a tractor-trailer that was stopped on the right berm. Police pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Police say that distracted driving appears to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
